Yes, but not by hitting into it. A TV can show the simulator software, but it is not built to take a golf ball, so it needs to sit behind a proper impact screen or net, or off to the side. If you want to hit straight at the display, a projector and impact screen is the safer, more common setup.
Why a TV is risky as the target
- Impact damage: A struck ball can crack a panel. Warranties typically don't cover this, so check yours.
- Ricochet: Hard, flat surfaces send balls back at you. See Golf Simulator Safety for netting placement.
- Glare: Glossy screens reflect light, and some sensors are sensitive to ambient light. Our lighting guide covers this.
TV vs. projector
| Factor | TV | Projector + impact screen |
|---|---|---|
| Takes ball impact | No | Yes, the screen is designed for it |
| Image size | Limited by TV sizes | Usually larger and more immersive |
| Brighter rooms | Handles them better | Generally needs a darker room |
| Space needed | Less depth for mounting | Needs throw distance and a mount |
| Cost | Varies; you may already own one | Varies; confirm current prices on official sites |
Ways a TV can work
- Protected display: Hit into a net or impact screen, with the TV mounted well away from the ball path. Some people use it purely as a data display next to the hitting area.
- Short-game focus: For putting or light chipping, the risk is lower, but it isn't zero.
- Small or rental spaces: A TV can make sense where a projector won't fit. See apartment and rental setups.

We haven't tested specific TV models against ball strikes, and results vary by panel, speed and distance. Don't treat any TV as impact-proof unless the manufacturer explicitly says so. If you're mounting a heavy display near a swing zone, consider a professional installer. Our DIY vs. professional installation page can help you decide.
Before you choose
Measure first. Display choice depends on your room dimensions and ceiling height and on where the launch monitor sits (distance guide). When you're ready to compare packages, use our review and comparison pages, and confirm current specs and pricing on each official site.
